Terms of Travel
The important small print that protects everyone
Please familiarise yourself with my terms of travel and helpful travel information.
Visas, Passports & Travel Documents
Prior to booking and ticketing, please thoroughly check that all passenger names in your itinerary exactly match those of passports. All documents in relation to international travel, must be issued in the name of the passport holder. You may be denied carriage if the name varies.
Prior to confirming your travel arrangements, you should also check your passport to establish that it will remain current for the entire period of your travel. Certain countries require that passports remain valid for a period of up to twelve months after the date upon which you are scheduled to leave such country. You may be denied entry to a country if your passport expires within 12 months.
You should clarify visa requirements with the Embassies of the countries that you plan to visit as certain countries may require you to take out a visa. We encourage all travellers to research visa and travel document requirements prior to ticketing and travel. Please know that it is the sole responsibility of each member of the travelling party to ensure that they have all the necessary visa/s, travel documents and passport requirements for their journey. If you would like assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask at the time of booking.
Re-entry Visas for New Zealand & Australia
Re-entry visas may be required for travellers leaving New Zealand holding a foreign passport. If you hold a foreign passport then it is your responsibility to make your own enquiries and satisfy yourself as to the position in regard to your passport and/or visa requirements before leaving New Zealand. Without the correct returning document or eligibility you may not be able to return.
Travel Insurance
I recommend that you take out a travel insurance policy at the time you pay for your travel. You should ensure that this insurance would protect you against medical expenses arising from sickness or injury during your travel, and protect you against loss or damage to your belongings.
In instances where you are paying by credit card for any of the services arranged through Travelust, and you intend to use travel insurance provided by the credit card provider, you waive any claim against Travelust in respect of any loss or damage you may suffer as a result of electing to take out your chosen travel insurance.
Checking Travel Arrangements
I have exercised care in putting together the arrangements requested by you in regards to your travel. It is important that you check all of the documentation sent to you in relation to your proposed travel to ensure that it fully meets with your requirements, and to ensure that there have been no misunderstandings.
I recommend that you contact your airline prior to any travel to ensure that the scheduled departure time has not changed. Please note, that any excess baggage charges are the traveller’s sole responsibility, as is meeting airline requirements in relation to carry-on baggage.
I also recommend that you familiarise yourself with current travel advisories/information from safetravel.govt.nz before you travel.
Travel during Covid-19
Due to the ongoing nature of travel during the covid-19 pandemic please check entry and transit restrictions for the places you are travelling. As well as checking the Department of Home Affairs page for your specific destination, the IATA website has information specific to covid-19 travel.
Border Restrictions and Visa Recommendations
I work alongside Visa Assist to check your eligibility to transit and enter ports. Please know that in instances where I provide you with border information, and you do not proceed with your reservation, I reserve the right to invoice $50+GST for our service.
Vaccinations
Certain countries require that travellers be vaccinated against specific infection and/or diseases. We recommend that you check with your doctor and the Embassies of the countries you are travelling to with respect to any health requirements.
Check-In Times
I recommend that you check-in for international flight travel no later than 3 hours prior to departure time, and for domestic flight travel, no later than 1 hour prior to departure time. In the event that travellers are not permitted to board a flight as a result of check-in deadline, Travelust will not award financial compensation.
Fees Prior to Booking
In some cases I will request a planning fee upfront, particulary for detailed itineraries where there is a lengthy amount of time put into the planning process. This fee varies between $50 and $100 per person depending on the enquiry.
This fee is non refundable, however if you go ahead with your booking it will be removed from your total costing. It just means I am paid for my time should you not proceed for whatever reason.
Where I have issued multiple quotes at your request that have not resulted in a booking with me, I reserve the right invoice you a $150 fee.
Prices
Airfares and tour prices may change without prior notice even though your arrangements have been confirmed. Price increases are beyond our control and you will be liable to pay for any increase.
Many airlines now impose surcharges on the price of air travel. These surcharges may change between the time you make a reservation and the date of full payment.
Prices are subject to availability at the time of booking. I cannot guarantee an airfare price until a reservation has been made. For accommodation, non refundable room pricing cannot be guaranteed until payment is received and your booking is confirmed.
Cancellation, Changes & Loss of Travel
Change of travel plans always incur fees. Those fees are the responsibility of the traveller. In some cases, Travelust is required to pay a ticketing fee for reissuing airline tickets, even when an airline has made a flight change. We pass that fee onto the traveller.
Should travellers wish to cancel travel, or there is a loss of travel for any reason, Travelust will not award financial compensation.
Cancellation fees
Fees are incurred on all confirmed reservations or bookings that are cancelled. Further, some tickets may be non-refundable or non-transferable. It is important to check the position with us before you confirm arrangements and/or before you cancel any confirmed reservations.
Please note that when a supplier offers a refund, the customer receives the refunded amount less Travelust fees.
I like to be up front and open about all fees and charges so there are no unexpected expenses for you. If you wish to amend or cancel all or part of your travel arrangements after you have paid a deposit, a Travel Advocates Ltd amendment fee will be charged as detailed below.
Travel Advocates amendment fees (in addition to any amendment fees levied by our suppliers):
